Santa's Reply Letters Start Today: North Pole Post Is on Its Way

There's some very important post leaving the North Pole today.

Santa Letter Direct's personalised Reply Letters from Father Christmas begin being sent for Christmas 2026 from 1 November.

October was about children writing their own messages and Christmas wishes to Santa. Now the post begins travelling in the other direction.

Over the coming weeks, envelopes from Father Christmas will start arriving through letterboxes and giving children one of those wonderfully simple Christmas surprises: real post addressed especially to them.

Santa's Reply Letters Have Started

For us, 1 November is one of the biggest dates in the Christmas calendar.

It marks the beginning of our Reply Letter season and the point when the North Pole post room really starts becoming busy.

Families can arrange a personalised letter from Santa, creating a reply that feels connected to the child receiving it rather than simply being a general Christmas message.

Why Is a Reply From Santa So Exciting?

Children don't receive much personal post.

Most things landing on the doormat belong to grown-ups, so seeing an envelope with their own name on it is already unusual.

Then they discover who sent it.

A letter from Father Christmas takes something children normally encounter in stories, films and their imagination and brings it physically into their own home.

We explored this in more detail in why children still love receiving post in a digital world.

Personalisation Is Where the Magic Happens

A child's name is important, but meaningful personalisation can go further.

The magical moment comes when children recognise something in the message that belongs to their world.

Perhaps Father Christmas seems to know something about their year. Maybe he knows about an achievement, an important person or something they're particularly excited about.

That's when a child can start wondering:

"How does Santa know that?"

Does My Child Have to Write to Santa First?

Writing to Father Christmas first can make receiving a reply feel particularly natural, but every family creates Christmas magic differently.

For children who do want to send their own message, our Dear Santa letters have been going out since 1 October.

We also have a parent's guide to writing a letter to Santa if they need some inspiration beyond their Christmas list.

When Should a Letter From Santa Arrive?

There isn't one perfect day for every child.

Some families love receiving North Pole post during November because it extends the Christmas build-up.

Others prefer their Santa letter to arrive during December when Christmas feels much closer.

The important thing is choosing timing that fits your own family traditions and checking the current delivery and availability information when ordering.

Make the Arrival Part of the Experience

You don't necessarily need an elaborate setup.

Sometimes the most convincing way for a Santa letter to arrive is simply through the letterbox with the rest of the post.

Let the child discover it.

Seeing their own name on the envelope and realising it belongs to them creates the anticipation before the letter has even been opened.

Keep the Letter After Christmas

Once the excitement of Christmas has passed, don't automatically throw the letter away.

North Pole post can become a lovely childhood keepsake.

Put it into a memory box alongside Christmas photographs, school certificates and other things that capture that particular age.

Years later, a personalised Santa letter can bring back far more than the words printed on the page.

What Else Might Arrive From the North Pole?

A letter doesn't have to be the end of the story.

Children might also discover they've made Santa's Nice List, receive messages from Christmas elves or encounter Father Christmas through personalised digital experiences as December approaches.

We've brought several ideas together in 7 ways to make Christmas more magical for your child in 2026.

The North Pole Post Room Is Getting Busy

This is where Christmas starts moving quickly.

October brought children's letters and wish lists.

November brings the replies.

Then come the darker evenings, Christmas decorations, school performances, festive films, advent calendars and all the little traditions that make December feel different from every other month.

The First Replies Are on Their Way

So if you hear the letterbox over the coming weeks, it might be worth checking who the envelope is addressed to.

From today, Santa's personalised Reply Letters for Christmas 2026 have officially begun.

And somewhere, a child is about to discover that Father Christmas has written back.
